Great Haircuts For Men

Men’s Haircuts are more a thing than they’ve ever been! Today’s man is fashion-forward and conscientious. A great haircut isn’t just about your hair or who cuts it. It’s important for you as a guest to understand what you’re working with. In this article, we will cover many considerations to understand to decide what the best haircuts for men are. Some elements that you should consider and discuss with your hair stylist are:

What Is Your Hair Texture?

Is your hair coarse, fine, curly, straight? When we talk about the texture of your hair, you should consider the circumference of each hair strand. A hair strand with more circumference is considered “coarse” and a strand with less circumference is “fine,” you get the idea.

In addition, the amount of bend or curl of your hair will affect the volume and movement and be a part of the formula of understanding your hair texture.

Follow Your Density!

Every person’s hair has a certain density of growth. To demonstrate, we could look at how many hair follicles per square inch in a given area of the scalp. If you have more hair follicles in that area your hair could be called “thick.” Likewise, if you have less hair follicles in that same space your hair may be called “thin.”

If your now asking, “what’s the number of follicles per square inch to be considered thick?” There’s no simple answer to that as it can be an entirely subjective answer. The purpose of understanding your density is to have a solid grasp of the concept and term for discussion with your stylist. To summarize, as an example a person can have “fine” (small circumference) but “thick” (dense follicles) hair. Fine+Thick Hair. Obviously each individual has their own make up of components unique to them.

What Is Your Face Shape?

Some shapes describing your face include round, oval, square, diamond, heart and triangle to name a few. The goal is to find balance; therefore using your hairstyle as a way to add to balance, or offset any imbalance. As an example, a person with a triangular or pyramid face shape may want some volume on top to even things up a bit.

What Is Your Lifestyle?

In the process of determining what’s the best men’s haircut for you; we must consider your lifestyle.
Do you work in a corporate environment or at a tattoo studio? Are you a wash and go kinda guy or do you wield that blow dryer like a pro?
If a blow dryer makes you want to run for the hills, it’s not a good idea to choose a coifed look that requires a lot of styling with tools. However, you could always learn how to use certain tools to achieve the look of the haircut you choose.

Trends and Haircuts For Men

These days there are lots of options to personalize your style. In other words, you can add details that are unique to your look, such as how your hairline is finished or lines/patterns cut into your haircut. Coupled with your style, checking out trends can give an added freshness to how your haircut suits you. Firstly, look into some resources that do much of the work for you, such as these articles: Esquire Style Trends. Secondly, think of haircuts for men that have made you take notice, certainly to act as a fulcrum of inspiration.

What’s A Fade?

When talking about haircuts for men, it is notable to discuss the term “fade.” A fade is a term that has been used generally to describe hair that is cut short going from shortest at the hairline and gradually getting longer as it “fades” up. However, the length of this transition can vary with each hairstyle individually. Your hair stylist may choose to use adjustable clippers or scissors and a comb to achieve a balanced fade…there are many paths to the same destination.

I take pride in the fact that my clients can see our comradery and comment on it regularly. Today I wanted to talk about one specific team member: Senior Mentor Stylist, Kristin. I wanted to highlight (pun fully intended) her for her can do attitude, loyalty to Ashka, and being a great role model to aspiring stylists and veterans alike.

Aveda Full Spectrum Deep Hair Color Line

DEEP

Aveda hair color has been my passion pretty much since I started in Cosmetology school. I love having the ability to completely customize my client’s hair color formulas. No two heads are alike. Even when two clients have a similar hair color, their formulas can vary drastically. Hair color formulations are based not only off of what color their hair is starting at and what color you want them to be, but also their hair texture, density, and type. Aveda has 3 different hair color lines: Full Spectrum Permanent, Full Spectrum Demi+, and Full Spectrum Deep. I recently have been able to embark on the journey of teaching hair color classes with the Full Spectrum Deep line.

What is Aveda Full Spectrum Deep?

Aveda Full Spectrum Deep is a fade-resistant formula that provides a balance of lift and deposit for a naturally cool result and infuses the hair with incredible, healthy looking shine. It is also extremely conditioning with a signature blend of plant oils—castor, certified organic sunflower and jojoba. It allows for a more pleasant processing with an aroma of certified organic lavender.

I tend to grab for Full Spectrum Deep when my clients have resistant greys or dark natural color and want to be lighter. However, more recently I have been playing with using Deep when I am blonding. I have been amazed with the results. I also love using Deep for lowlights in my blondes because it seems to have a little more lasting power on blonde porous hair.

In my personal opinion, there is nothing better than Aveda hair color! I truly believe it the best option for healthy colored hair. Call the salon today to book your appointment with one of our amazing stylists!

Until Next Time,

Josie 🙂
