ASHKA SALON & SPA’S 1st ANNUAL “GIVE BACK WEEK” CHARITY EVENT
Almost $10,000 was raised for Gleaner’s Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan
Ashka Salon & Spa held its 1st Annual Give Back Week November 1-6, 2010.
There were several ways that the entire Ashka Family including Leadership, Team Members and Guests worked together to reach our goal. Every Service Provider volunteered their day off to host a week-long “Beauty-a-thon” at their facility. Twenty-Five Minute Chair Massages were offered for $20, Haircuts were offered for $25 and Pedicures were offered for $30. With 100% of the proceeds from the Beauty-A-Thon being donated to Gleaner’s Community Food Bank it made a large dent in their goal. Ashka Salon & Spa generously donated 10% of all service, retail and gift card sales that week.
A silent auction was conducted from October 4 until November 6, and featured many high end items from local businesses. The auction included gift cards to Flemings Steakhouse, Benihana, Gigi’s Mode and tickets to Red Wings and Lion’s games. They also auctioned off a complete makeover and a trip to Kaui, Hawaii.
Give Back Week came to a celebratory end with a festive party launching Ashka Salon & Spa’s Fusion Design Team - an elite team of chosen stylists, and it featured their first hair and makeup collection. Fusion works together to create exceptional trends, have fashion shows and enter national competitions representing the Canton Community. The collection was presented in an artful and exciting video format highlighting their work in progress and final images.
Many organizations made Give Back Week possible including the Jenna Kator Collection, Razzamatazz of Plymouth, Melting Pot of Novi and Great Cakes of Brighton. Along with its partners, Ashka was honored to support such a great cause, and to bring attention to the hunger crisis right here in our own area.
Last year, Gleaners distributed more than 30 million pounds of emergency food to over 430 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties. A donation of only $100 provides 300 meals to those in need. That means that Ashka’s efforts, helped provide over 27,000 meals!
Ashka Salon and Spa is excited for their 2nd Annual Give Back Week which is planned for September 12-17, 2011. They have many great things planned and are looking forward to an even more successful event!
